At Vivanco we celebrate one more year the Oenotourism Day. We have prepared different activities not only for November 9, but we will continue celebrating it during the following week.
The European Wine Tourism Day is an initiative that began to be celebrated in 2009, promoted by the European Network of Wine Cities(RECEVIN). Other countries such as Italy and Portugal are also taking part, bringing the total number of participating territories to 49.
In our case, for several years we have been preparing different activities with wine as the protagonist, always aimed at all audiences: families, groups of friends, couples, etc.. Wine lovers or not, we try to make sure that everyone enjoys a special day of wine tourism.
For this purpose, this year we have prepared several activities that we hope you will enjoy.
Thematic visits
Together with the Universidad Popular de La Rioja we have developed a program of thematic visits that we will carry out throughout the year (in this blog we will detail the program next week). This program starts on November 9, coinciding with Wine Tourism Day.
The activity that we will carry out this day is focused on the role that wine has had in the world of cinema. This day will be divided into 3 parts:
- Unveil the secrets of the collection by touring the Vivanco Museum of Wine Culture in an alternative way. The ins and outs of the collection and the travels of each of the pieces around the world to get here will be revealed during the visit.
- Getting closer to the publishing world through one of the publications of the Vivanco Foundation. In this first visit we will talk about the book written by Bernardo Sánchez, "El Cine del Vino". Nuria del Rio, Head of the Vivanco Foundation, will tell us about its creation, anecdotes and curiosities that lie behind an exciting work.
- Discuss all this over a glass of wine from our Vivanco Reserva 2008 (or mosto for the little ones) while tasting a pincho chosen for the occasion, prepared by the chef of our restaurant.
The thematic visits of this program are designed for all audiences and will take place from 11.00-13.00h, starting this Sunday, November 9. The price of the visits will be 13 € for adults and 2 € for children under 12 years. The complete program, consisting of 4 visits, one for each season, costs 39€ for adults and 6€ for children under 12 years old.
If you want to arrive from Logroño, a bus will be available at a cost of 7€ per person. Meeting point at the Universidad Popular.
If you feel like experiencing a different kind of wine tourism day, come and discover the secrets of our Museum.

National Congress of Wine Museums
After the Wine Tourism Day, from November 10 to 14, the XII National Congress of Wine Museums will be held in Vivanco and at the National School of Historical Heritage (Nájera).
The programmed activities will take place in Briones on the 10th, 11th and 12th, with the inauguration at 4 pm and a visit to the Museum after the two presentations scheduled for that day: Wine Tourism in La Rioja and The Wine Route of La Rioja Alta.
The lectures on the 11th (Tuesday), will focus on the beginnings of viticulture in the Iberian Peninsula from the archaeological analysis of the traces of cultivation. The historical development of production and marketing will also be discussed.
On Wednesday, the 12th, we will focus on the origin of wine in the Ebro Valley and the archaeology of wine in Navarra and Rioja Alta.
The last 2 days of the Congress will be in Nájera and will have a more scientific character around the history of this crop. On Thursday, Juan Manuel Tudanca and Carlos López de Calle will make a presentation on archeology and wine landscape in the Cistercian farm of La Noguera.
