1 million thanks for these 10 years

1,000,000 visitors. An unimaginable figure when we inaugurated our facilities on 29 June 2004. A project with which we wanted to share our passion for Wine Culture with the world.

A dream come true that was a revolution in national and international wine tourism. All set in a unique setting, Briones, with a landscape of mountains and vineyards that now forms part of the candidacy for World Heritage status.

When we opened, people asked us if we were crazy. Not only them, but also the consultancy firm we hired to make a business plan. Their best predictions were about 15,000 visitors per year... In the middle of 2004 alone, we tripled that figure. At that time almost all the wineries were closed to the public.

We knew it was risky, but we were convinced that the project would be a success and that people would like it. Although, to be honest, we never imagined that 100,000 people would come to visit our winery, museum, restaurant, etc. every year.

A dream that has come true thanks to all of you, thanks to your interest in sharing the Culture of Wine and discovering how far and in what ways man has lived alongside wine for 8,000 years. Yes, 8,000 years no less...

As Santi Vivanco (Director of Fundación y Experiencias Vivanco) always says, "for me wine has always been much more than aromas, flavours and textures. Much more than the vineyards that my father and grandfather took me to. I was interested in the human side behind the wine and the 8,000 years of history it had shared with mankind".

What can you find at Vivanco?

The 9,000 square metres of the Museum Vivanco of Wine Culture bring together more than 6,000 original pieces collected over more than 40 years by the family Vivanco: a journey through the history of Wine Culture with a universal character and a didactic approach, bringing together works by contemporary painters such as Miró, Picasso or Barceló with archaeological pieces from different cultures such as Egyptian, Greek or Roman. For all this, we have received the First Prize for the best International Wine Tourism Project, awarded in 2004 by The Global Network of Great Wine Capitals, in Melbourne, Australia. Likewise, in 2007 the World Tourism Organization awarded it the Special Jury Prize and that same year UNESCO declared it the best Museum of Wine Culture in the world. These awards culminated in 2014 with the Best Oenological Establishment at the II Wine Tourism Awards "Rutas del Vino de España" (ACEVIN) or the one awarded by the reference portal Trip Advisor.

If you have not yet come to Compartir la Cultura del Vino, or if you have already been but want to discover the new features that we have added to our Museum in the last year, choose your experience and take advantage of the exclusive discounts on our website http://bit.ly/reservas-experiencias.
