Vivanco Lías Finas Viura-Tempranillo blanco-Maturana blanca is the first wine in Rioja and in the world to be made with this unique coupage. Starting with the traditional Viura variety as the main component of the wine (a 50%), for the first time, two minority grapes exclusive to Rioja, Tempranillo white and Maturana white, are incorporated. The three varieties come from the Vivanco family's own vineyards in different terroirs of Rioja.
grape harvest
Each variety is harvested by hand in small boxes and separately. All the grapes are kept in cold storage for 36 hours before being processed on the sorting table. In the second week of September, the white Tempranillo and at the end of the same month, the rest of the varieties.
elaboration
Each variety is made separately. After a brief cold maceration (between 6-10 hours), the tear must is fermented in small stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature (12-15 ºC) to preserve all the varietal expression. The wines obtained remain in contact with their lees in tanks for 4 months to preserve the varietal aromas and give them greater harmony and smoothness on the palate.
VARIETIES
50% VIURAViura: The main white variety grown in Rioja, it offers fruity wines, with a floral aroma and a notable degree of acidity, ideal for making both young whites and crianza wines. Our Viura vineyards are located in Briones, Rioja Alta.
35% TEMPRANILLO BLANCOThis variety comes from a natural genetic mutation from a single shoot of a Tempranillo Tinto vine located in 1988 in an old vineyard in Murillo del Río Leza (La Rioja). Its aroma is fruity, intense banana, citrus and tropical fruits, and also floral. It does not exist anywhere else in the world.
15% MATURANA BLANCA: It is the oldest variety of which there is written knowledge in Rioja, as it is mentioned as early as 1622. Maturana Blanca wines are greenish-yellow in colour; fruity aromas of apple, banana and citrus fruits, as well as herbaceous notes.
